A couple interesting events coming up, if you are here. FIRST is the "American Classic Car Show" on March 19th. and 20th. at the new, big, shopping center in the marina area. It is billed as a 'Regional' car show with (Supposedly) cars from Durango, Cullican, and other areas as well as local Mazatlan cars.
SECOND on March 20th. is the "Spring Equinox" at Las Labradas. This is a historic site about 20 miles north of Mazatlan where there are carved rocks, actually in the surf line, that were carved between 1,000 and 5,000 years ago. Starting at 7:00 a.m. there will be 'practice' Taichi on the beach followed by a 'Blessing' by an Indian Shamen. There will be guided tours by an archaeologist from the federal historical commission (INAH). Also a demonstration of 'Ulama' which is the sort of soccer game played for over 3,000 years. (The same one the Aztec's played) and a few other events. From 7:00 a.m. until about 3:00 p.m. and there is a small restaurant with cold drinks. Everyone is asked to wear white to respect the intention of the day. There is no charge to enter the historical park.
