How to protect Cerrito beach Truck breakin Sunday afternoon

Warning. Sunday about 4 pm a truck canopy was pried open and half the contents were stolen in the middle of the day on the street to Bruja . The street was almost completely full of cars on both sides of the road all the way to the beach and out the other side. . There were lots of people around but no one seemed to notice the thief. The owners will never retrieve what they lost (many personal items, Luggage, Tools, Local art, etc.) The vehicle was locked up securely and in full view of the public on a well traveled road for the day. There is nothing they can do to get back there belongings. This is the second time this year that something was stole ( 2 months ago it was the spare tire) So everyone be aware of how brave the thieves are becoming. Take extra care to protect your belongings. WE Love Mazatlan but are starting to become disenchanted with the crime, We have always been very careful to lock up all our things.. We were totally taking back with this robbery in broad daylight among so many people.

Your first post talked about a truck canopy that was pried open...and you referred to the loss by the owners.

Now you are saying it was a car...and it is your stuff?? I am very confused...

Maybe it is time to pack up and move on...there are other places in Mexico to live...maybe better luck there.

I understand how it feels. One time someone caused $600 in damage to my car just to steal a $200.00 stereo. The irony is; (1) I live in an area where crime has never been an issue, (2) I parked the car no more than 75 feet from my driveway, (3) It was parked directly under a street light, and last but not least, (3) it was parked directly in front of a policeman’s house.

What can you say… Sometimes bad things happen to good people. It really could have happened almost anywhere. You can’t let one somewhat random event overshadow what must be the many positives of spending so much time in Mazatlan.

Its said that this world has many bad elements but you can avoid many.

#1 rule all over the world is "Don't leave valuables in your car" If your road tripping this may be difficult.

There are always places where you can park where you tip a guy to watch your ride.

At all the grocery stores and many other places that annoying guy that feels the need to blow a whistle to tell you how to backup out of the parking space (like its your first time using reverse) is not being tipped for that but for watching your car/truck/ride while your inside.

There are guys by the restaurant at Bruja that watch cars too.

Very good point.

It is funny tho when you come out of the store and as you are approaching your car the guy says 'here is your car'.
