Grand Costa Real Changes Name

Hi, we received a notice today from our Travel Agent that the Grand Costa Real has changed their name to Tesoro Manzanillo,They say all services remain the same. Does anyone know anything more about this? Thanks.

It was the Sierra Manzanillo when we stayed there in 97.

Sounds like private ownership vs the Real group.

We were there from December 23 - 30th. When we arrived, the sign at the entrance said Gran Costa Real, when we left, it said Tesoro Manzanillo.

Other than that, we did not notice any difference.

Yes they are changing their name again! I meant to post about it before but I got busy with the holidays and didn't get around to it.

The hotel was sold a couple of years ago to an american company called Steadfast (or something along those lines). They are a company that mostly owns malls and condos in the states, and one hotel in Vegas. They also purchased a few of the other Sierra hotels, in Cancun, Cabo and Ixtapa. They partnered up with the Costa Real chain until they got off on their own feet. Now that they have done so they are ready to go out on their own. So as of Feb. 1st the name change will be offical and they will now be called, Hotel Tesoro Manznillo.
