Dreams. Any fun activities?

Hi. Looking to book dreams end of July. Never been to Huatulco, but at least 30 trips in Cancun, riviera Maya, and other parts of Mexico.

Hubby and I going with daughters, 10 and 11.

Are there activities during the day? Shows at night? Any bands/lounge acts in the evening?

Have been to resorts in RM where it is so quiet day and night, you feel like only person there. Not looking for crazy, just a little noise/entertainment....Here?????

Most fun is getting out and seeing the local sights and trying the local eateries and drinkeries. There is so much to see and do.

Hi Kylaboo,

You should read the thread titled "Things for a seven year old to do"

Your daughters are older but there were great ideas for all ages in that thread of things to do.

Learn to swim

Learn to snorkel

Learn to dive

Go bicycle riding with the kids in the park

Go fishing

Take a swim in the ocean

Take a swim in a mountain stream

Take a basic Spanish conversation class

Take a ride in a bay tour in a panga

Have an ice cream at Zamora in La Crucecita

Have a music lesson at the Casa de la Cultura in La Crucecita

Watch the clown/actors at the Zócalo in La Crucecita

Watch the birds and learn their names

In any case, get off-campus and enjoy the 9 bays, 36 beaches and the great Oaxacan cuisine at the local restaurants.

Hope this helps. Your questions are always welcome.

Dreams does have an activity board posted everyday, usually in 1-2 hour blocks. With your daughters being the age that they are I feel it would really depend on how busy the resort can be. We have been to Huatulco numerous times over the years with our teenage son, almost always stay non AI,...have never been during the summer months... It's my understanding that the area is crazy, busy fun in the summer months with the ratio of Nationals being higher than the Winter months.. If your daughters are go- getters, have a smattering of Spanish under their belt they should be good to go. The resort is on the small size by AI standards.. compared to say the Barcelo resorts on the East Coast. Make sure to get off resort as much as possible.. great beaches, great day trips.. La Crucecita has great restaurants, markets and most importantly shopping!

Thanks for all the great ideas. I am booking tomorrow and know we will have a great time, as we always do. We always venture off property and explore. My question was more, "does Dreams have anything going on on our OFFDays, when we just want to chill at the resort?

There are many activities during the day at Dreams...less going on in the evening. Activities start with 7am yoga. There is archery, water volleyball, kayak tours, beach volleyball, water aerobics, bingo, Spanish lessons, pottery painting, etc. The daily newsletter will detail the day's activities. After dinner there is not much to do. The nightly entertainment team show in the theatre is the main event. There is occasional (2-3 times/week?) musical entertainment at the lobby bar. They also show outdoor movies at night which is popular with the kids.
