Malaysian visiting Tijuana - US Visa?

I am a Malaysian scheduled for Tijuana for 2 weeks in late April 2010. My reason for travelling is to escort my wife who will be there on business.

I don't have a US Visa. Is an American visa required if one were to fly direct to Mexico, bypassing US airports? Is it very difficult to get a Mexican tourist visa if one is currently in-between jobs? What airline flies there from Kuala Lumpur?

Thanks a lot.

It will be a long Bus ride from Mexico city to T.J. at least 17hrs

on the express Mex bus. The Interior of Mexico is quite mountainous

and very interesting to see by Bus road.

Your easiest way to get to Tijuana while bypassing the USA is with Aeromexico, they have direct flights from Tokio's Narita Airport, and Shangai's Pudong airport, the Shanghai flight resumes on the 27th of March 2010.

And yes those are direct flights to Tijuana, no stops.
