grocery shopping in Loreto

Can you recommend the best grocery market in Loreto, located

somewhere between the airport and the resort Villa Del Palmar. We would like to have transportation available at the airport when we arrive. Do you recommend a shuttle, taxi, or private car to rent for that excursion?

Rent a car to give you more freedom. Don't know of any stores between airport and VDP. We shopped in several stores in the town of Loreto.

there is only one supermarket in Loreto that we've found...it's at the west end of the pedestrian walk that takes you past the church and the museum. However, it's a good market carrying everything you need including fresh meat and fish. The other top shopping option is the farmers market held in the aroyo to the North of the town on Sunday. Follow the crowds. This market is where you can get all your fresh produce as well as new shoes, some tee shirts, a live goat and a couch for your living room if you want one. Downtown Loreto is very compact. When we are there, we park and rarely move the car. However, we also stay in the town. Your resort is several miles from Loreto town, so if you want to explore the area, a car is very useful. A taxi to and from town for the purpose of buying groceries will cost you about $40. Your resort may offer a shuttle, however, so it may be worthwhile checking with them before renting a car.
