Looking for Inexpensive Hotel on Beach of Ensenada Mexico

We are looking for an inexpensive hotel on the beach of Ensenada Mexico. This is our first time there and wondering if anyone could give us an insite where to stay and where to eat and entertainment and places to see. This will just be a weekend vacation. We are driving in from Oakland,ca. Is the drive into mexico to Ensenada long? Any and all information would be helpful.

Thanks,

Deena

Driving into Mexico is quick and easy with a random red/green light inspection system. The drive from the border to Ensenada on the scenic toll road should take a little over an hour.

Downtown Ensenada is a port and marina. Beaches are located to the north and south of town. The only Ensenada hotel on a beach that I'm aware of is Estero Beach Hotel and RV Park http://www.hotelesterobeach.com. Other hotels like Punta Morro and Las Rosas have nice views of the ocean, cliffs and surf, but no beach. Hotel Coral & Marina and Corona Hotel offer marina views. The cheapest stay on the beach might be the Ensenada Hostel http://www.ensenadahostel.com if you don't mind the dorm room type bunk bed accommodations .

There is a very good selection of eating, shopping and clubs along Lopez Mateos.

Rosarito Beach (1/2 way to Ensenada) has hotels on beaches. Rosarito might be more what you are looking for.
