ATM fraud in Ensenada?

I used the HSBC ATM machine at the Sol Pharmacy in downtown Ensenada on Oct. 21. Nobody was looking over my shoulder, and I took my receipt with me. Six weeks later, my bank account was emptied by a series of 7 ATM withdrawals in Leon, Guanajuato (I've never been there). My bank says there could have been a "skimmer" installed in the machine and then my card could have been cloned. Of course, it could have happened at an ATM in the U.S. I'm just wondering if anybody else used that machine and had problems.

Sorry to hear this... but glad that you posted here.

Whether or not this happened in Ensenada or the U.S., it is probably good advice to others planning to travel to only use ATMs that are located in banks, which should be more secure.
