Beach chairs/camp chairs or towels?

Hi, we are heading up to the finger lakes in a couple days. Our plan is Watkins glen, Ithaca state parks with hikes up streams to swimming holes and over to naples. Are these the type of beaches where we bring chairs or should we just bring beach towels where your sitting on rocks? Thanks just starting to pack.

We planned on doing the same thing last week, but never got around to it! If you go to Buttermilk, there is a large, grassy area at the bottom that would be perfect for either chairs or towels...whatever you're more comfortable in. We did hike from the top of Robert Treman but never swam in the bottom bec. the water was ice cold. People were lounging on towels there. We couldn't head to the other "T" falls in Ithaca (sorry, the name now escapes me ) bec. the park was closed due to a fallen tree & to quote the park director, "there are millions of angry bees swarming around". There really isn't any place at Watkins Glen to "hang out" but the gorge is beautiful. Just take the bus UP & hike down. The # of stairs would be terrible to climb up.

There is a beach on the south tip of Seneca Lake where you can bring your lawn chair/towels. Here is a link watkinsglenchamber.com/Home/Visitors/Things-… Don't forge the Watkins Glen Gorge, very beautiful. We love Robert Treman park, there is a natural swimming pool with lifeguard on the bottom.
