Beach bungalow vs beach villa & travelling with children

We are booked to go to the island of Kuredu for 12 nights over Xmas and new year and cannot wait. We are two adults and two children (age 7 and 9) and were wondering if we should stay in a beach bungalow or upgrade to a beach villa? We don't want to be near the jetty due to noise of seaplanes and would like unrestricted views. Also, has anyone else been with young children? Any tips?

We have been twice and have always stayed in the Villas rather than bungalows. I believe that Kuredu packages have changed since we last went and that staying in the Villas may give you access to extra bars/restaurants however having children with you I would check on the Kuredu website as this will restrict where you can eat and drink.

We have been to Maldives with a child and they loved it and the staff love children and will go out of their way to entertain/make them feel comfortable. I would make sure you have plenty of sun tan lotion as it is expensive to buy out there and they do not cater for children so buckets and spades etc need to be taken with you, also any water toys/games will need to be packed with you.

Have a fantastic time - what an amazing place for a family holiday - enjoy!!

Thanks for the response. I will definitely take buckets and spades - thanks for the heads up on that as it isn't something I would have thought of doing

One other thought - the current in places can be strong so if your children want to snorkle and are not strong swimmers I'd look into one of those jackets that support swimming, you can hire snorkelling equipment there but if it's something you will be spending a lot of time doing it is probably worth taking with you what you will need.

Hi

Kuredu has a realy good web site ,on the home page there is a pic of the island if you hover above the pic it tells you the name of the area and the accommodation types available in that area www.kuredu.com/

The island has an adult only part ( O resort ) you can not use the restaurant / bar / or pool but you can use the beaches,There is a lagoon on the O side about 1 mtr deep with small sharks and rays your kids will love it !

On the other side of the island near the jetty there is a lump of coral about the size of a car with lots of fish living on it ,its only about 4 mtrs off shore hours of fun ideal for the kids.

I wouldn`t worry too much about the sea planes after a few days you will not even notice them and after your seaplane trans you will have a soft spot for them lol.

If your budget alows i would up grade to a BV they are realy nice and you would be on the upper side of the class system !!

You could have a look on YouTube at the accommodation on Kuredu there is lots of footage.

A good tip is get some aqua pumps for your feet ,there are bits of sharp coral on the beach and in the lagoon you can get them off e bay (a must for your kids)

Kuredu is a beautiful island you will love it !!! If you need to ask any questions we will be happy to help if we can, have a great time and Merry Xmas ioi

hi , we have been with young children since our daughter was 5 and now shes 19 and we have a 8 year old boy now whos also been to the maldives twice and we are returning again this november with them both! our youngest who is 8 loves the maldives not only does he love the pool he loves the night fishing , and the trips to other islands. Our daughter and son we only go on hoildays to the maldives now ;) Kuredu is a lovely island and seems to be popular with young children and famileys . Beach bungalows are fine thats what we had although we "upgraded" to a beach bungalow from a garden villa there is no point as they are excatly the same!! have a great time your children will never want to go anywere eles !!
