Scyc July 2011

Can someone advise if Mid to late July is an ok time to travel to staniel Cay? We visited exuma in April a few years ago and got caught in a cold front and the wind blew for the while week. Is there less chance of this in July? I know rainfall is higher, but is it more likely to be short showers or set in for a couple of days?.

Just out of curiosity, was that April 2008? If so, that was a somewhat unusual spell in the Bahamas as well as the southern US. We were in Eleuthera mid April that year and the water was freezing, the wind unbelievable but that weather front that swept out of the US caused freak freezes on the Gulf Coast as well so I believed the people on the island who said it was unseasonable for them. We went to SCYC the first week of June 2009 to try to be sure of good weather and warm water and it was great. We had pop-up showers for a while almost every day but they were short-lived tropical rains that blew off pretty quickly- only one day that was a total washout. We loved SC- hope you will as well!

We were at St Francis resort in 2009. The weather was fine, but two windy to take a whaler out or go diving ocean side.

We are still considering early April as the international fares over to Florida are much better than mid to late July - we are off to see family, but try and steel a few days in the Bahamas too!
