mosquitos & sand fleas on San Sal

i've read that san sal is notorious for mosquitos and no-see-ums, or sand fleas. even when using repellant, i still get eaten alive.

can anyone confirm or deny these pest rumours, and if true, when is the best/worst times to go. tips?

love the beach, hate being eaten.

thanks

We were at Club Med three years ago in March. No mosquitos or sand fleas. I think it is probably seasonal. It was late March and it was beautiful! Enjoy...that Club Med was one of the best I have been at, it was really a great time.

We just returned this eve from Club Med in San Salvador Bahamas. Loved it there, but I have about 20 very itchy bites from Sand Fleas. I must be allergic to them and they must like me. My husband didn't get any. It is a very nice Club Med and I am now not sure about going back.
