Getting to cat Island

My husband and I would like to do something special for our kids, their spouses and our grandkids for Christmas. I couldn't find a cruise to Bermuda for that time of year.... but i did find an awesome deal on a rental property on Cat Island on the beach in Bennett's harbor. Now I need a really inexpensive way to get them there from Huntsville Alabama. Can anyone help me out here??? Thanks

Depending on how many of you there are, it may work out well to charter a plane from Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) or Miami (or Huntsville?) directly to New Bight (TBI) on Cat Island. TBI is a port of entry.

You could fly to Nassau on the airline of your choise, and then fly NAS to Arthur's Town on Cat Island Air.

Cat flies 2 times a day, 7 days/week. About $190 RT. You have to call them on the phone to make your reservations. 242-377-3318. No email or website. They'll write your name in their reservation book, and you pay at the airport when you get there. Cash preferred, but they'll take a credit card. Ask to be sure when you call.

You can fly Lynx Air www.lynxair.com or Continental Gulfstream www.continental.com from Ft. Lauderdale to TBI. They each fly 3 times a week, about $350 RT.

Allow a couple hours for customs and immigration between flights at NAS and FLL.

Be sure to have passports for everyone.

When you get to Cat Island, plan on paying cash everywhere. The only places that will accept credit cards are some of the resorts/hotels. There is no ATM and the bank will NOT give you cash on your credit card. US and Bahamian dollars trade at par and are accepted equally everywhere.

I suggest you surf some of the Cat Island resort's websites and learn all you can about the Bahamas and Cat.

Have Fun!!!
