Bar Scene/ Nightlife

I am going with a buddy to GBI and want to know what the nightlife is like? We are single in our early 30's and looking to mix and mingle with women of the same age.

Where do we go? What does a beer cost and is there usually a cover at clubs? Also, where will all the cute girls be????

For your first night out-Start off in Port Lucaya at the Port Lucaya Market Place Square. The square is surrounded by bars on every side and has Music and dancing. It usually closes around midnight. After that, walk down the east corridor-out of the square, but in the marketplace-to the "Bahama Mama Bar" which stays open late into the night. You also have the option of the "Prop club" which is across the street from the market place, on the sand, at the base of the "Westin" hotel. "Shaningans" Irish pub also has some good nights, they are located to the west of the square. A good place to eat at the begining of your Lucayan night festivities is "The Fat Man's Nephew" restuarant and bar which overlooks the Marketplace Square. Towards the end of your night you can always walk to Lucaya Beach for a late night swim.

On one of your more adventurous "end of a day that turn into night" you should definitely journey to the "Margaritavillla" Bar and Grill-(One Of Grand Bahamas Best Kept Secrets) located next to "Millionires Row" & "Viva Fortuna Resort" on the beach. Good nights at this this place are packed. But you should stop by and ask them what is thier best night. Because some nights are more calm than others.

If you are there on Wednesday Night, go to the Smiths Point

Fish Fry. There are a couple bars, on the beach, there that are packed on wednesday.

There are also some big indoor clubs near the international bazaar, but I am not sure if they are open anymore-since the Hurricane.

Another good melow spot, on some nights, is the Tranquility Shores Resturant and Bar. It's located on Taino Beach. You may want to stop by there for lunch and ask them what night they recommend as their best nights.

One last place you may want to check out is the "Travelers Rest" Bar and Grill. Which is just west up the road from the "Island Seas Resort" in the Williams' Town Area. This is another melow spot that usually has a couple good nights a week.

The Cheapest beer in town is "Kalik" which is a bahamiam Beer. Its good and is usually a bit cheaper than the rest. Besides that there is plenty of rum...

You should also get a copy of the Book "Everything You Need To Know Grand Bahama Island". It will definitely help you have an amazing vacation... You can find it on amazon.com or order it at your local bookstore.

Usually most of the places mentioned above do not have a cover. The clubs near the international bazaar do charge at the door.
