One Day in Freeport suggestions

I will be in freeport on a cruise for one day. Do any of the hotels sell day passes or allow cruise passengers to use their facilities? Are there any public beaches near the port? Any suggestions for excursions would be appreciated.

I don't know when you will be going to Freeport, however I just got back & this may help someone else.

The Westin at Port Lucaya (10 minutes from Freeport by taxi)offers a day pass for $10 US, a great bargain as it is a fabulous resort. It is next to the market, the casino, all the waterfront restaurants/pubs & boutiques.

The Westin is right on the beach, has several pools, hot tubs, skiing etc. My party got passes for the day & we did not regret it. The sand is so fine it feels like talcum powder.

We stayed at a small hotel in Freeport away from everything: affordable but not very close to anything.

Just realized that you will be docking at Port Lucaya so go to the Westin across the road from the port of entry terminal & get your day pass, or just spend your day in Port Lucaya browsing the shops, the stores, the pubs, the marina! Its a great place to spend the day as well as an evening.

Thanks so much for the day pass information. I didn't want to book any shore excursions at this port and this will be perfect.

We're leaving Christmas day. Thanks again.

Port Lucaya does not have anything close to a cruise liner facility. It is a Marketplace and Marina for yachts and other smaller vessels. Definitely not a cruise liner. Unless this is a yacht sized liner they will be docking at the cruise terminal on the other side of Freeport, Lucayan Harbour, which sounds like it is part of Port Lucaya but is definitely NOT. It is about a half hour cab ride to the Port Lucaya Marketplace and Marina and the Westin Our Lucaya Resort. There are no beaches you can walk to from Lucayan Harbour. There are some shops and a straw market, plus a cultural center in the terminal area but you really want to go to Port Lucaya which will be a $20-30 cab ride each way, depending upon the number of people. It is also interesting that Our Lucaya is now offering outside guests day passes for $10. Prior to now they had never allowed outside persons to use their facilities except for guests at Pelican Bay Resort (although sometimes they did not check closely). You COULD use the beach, and their bars and restaurants, but not their beach lounges, pools, towels or other resort owned equipment. This must be new and must have been implemented very recently.

My husband and I will be on a Carnival Cruise and stopping in Freeport for the day. We would very much like to go to the Westin and obtain a "day pass." Who do we contact in advance?
