Sheraton -- Island View Rooms ??

My husband and I have reservations at the Sheraton - Our Lucaya for July/Aug 2005. We have two Island View rooms reserved, and have requested connecting rooms because we are traveling with our 5 kids (ages 5 - 15).

How are the Island View rooms compared to the Ocean View rooms? What kind of view do they have? Is the view reasonable, or do they overlook parking or air conditioning units?

Also, we have been told that connecting rooms are NOT guaranteed. This is a concern since we are traveling with our children. Has anyone experienced a problem with getting connecting rooms on arrival? Is it reasonable to assume that the hotel will be able to accomodate this request?

Is the July/August time considered a slow season for the hotel?

The Sheraton is only about 4 stories high. The Island View rooms looked at the walkway between the Sheraton and the Westin, the back of the Casino, etc; not really scenic. Ocean veiw overlooks the pool area, then the ocean. Tripadvisor Hotel Review section has a pretty good picture to show you the Sheraton grounds.
