Anyone Familiar with Woodbourne Estates Recently?
Save

Hi all. I've inherited my parents' timeshares at Woodbourne Estates but I can't find any current information on it. There is no website and anything I've found review wise is several years old - most are in the 2006-2008 time frame. Everyone seems to post the same small set of pictures, even the people trying to see their timeshares here.

Is the area decent/safe? Are the timeshares run down or in disrepair from what you can see? I know there have been a couple of major hurricanes since the last time I found a review for Woodbourne. I am unable to find anything about the resort on Interval International so I'm really wondering what it is I now own. I know it is not really close to the beach - in fact I'm not even sure what beach one would drive to.

Also, is the casino dead? I've not been to Freeport since the late 70s (think Coral Beach area) but am getting the distinct impression that much of what used to be there is either bankrupt or otherwise.

Any information is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

Thank you for your information, will be going online to file a complaint too. As many owners as we can get maybe can get this all done an over with. I just want out my remaining few years as they are in breach of contract.

I appreciate the posts from others regarding the information I posted about filing a complaint with the AG office in the State of Georgia. I hope everyone who follows this thread has taken action and filed a complaint as well.

I recently received a copy of a letter from the Ga. Dept. of Law - Consumer Protection Unit.

The letter was referring to the complaint I filed. Will retype the letter below for everyone to be aware of the action that was taken. I don't actually understand why the Florida office should be able to be of any assistance....but maybe someone else will know and inform the rest of us after reading the letter I received. (letter I received is re-typed below)

RE: Reference File Number 425586

Business Name: Caribbean Service Group (Bahamas) Ltd. / Woodbourne Resorts

Dear Commissioner Putnam:

The Consumer Protection Unit of the Georgia Department of Law has received the attached complaint.

We have been unable to verify a physical connection between Caribbean Service Group (Bahamas) Ltd. / Woodbourne Resorts and the State of Georgia. The address of 1454 Willingham Dr. in East Point, Ga. is not a good address for the company since mail is being returned from there as undeliverable. At this point we are unable to take any action in this matter, but we believe the complaint contains information or allegations that may be of interest to your agency or may fall under the laws your agency administers.

We will greatly appreciate your review of the material to determine whether you can offer any assistance to Mrs. Short. The matter will remain in our files for future reference.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

M. Collier

On October 30, 2017, we sent a certified letter to Caribbean Service Group stating that we consider our lease to be terminated. We heard nothing back. We mailed it to PO Box 90945 Atlanta, GA. 30364. This is the PO Box that all the recent bills have been coming from. We got a return receipt confirming delivery on November 2, 2017. It was signed by a Thomas A. Craig. Perhaps the Georgia Attorney General can track down the owner of the PO Box. I haven't seen the street address that you mentioned in your letter on anything from CSG since 2015. I would think that Caribbean Service Group is a registered business entity in Georgia, but maybe not. The last few years, this entire operation may just be a big scam/con to collect/steal fees, and they are riding it out as long as they can. Think how many owners have no idea about any of this and are still blindly paying maintenance fees. This is actually starting to look like a criminal enterprise. Thank you LSSRRS for all your efforts!!

Below is information I just found on this link:https://ecorp.sos.ga.gov/BusinessSearch/BusinessInformation?businessId=1577638&businessType=Foreign%20Profit%20Corporation

Apparently, Caribbean Service Group was DISSOLVED on 8/24/2017 after their business status was revoked. I think it is unlawful for them to continue to send out invoices. My latest invoice was 11/21/17. The latest address is 7791 Highway 19S Zevulon, Georgia 30295 for Katherine Craig. I just filed a complaint with the Georgia Attorney General stating this new information. I think CSG has definitely been running a scam. I wouldn't be surprised if the people involved have left the state of Georgia by now. My complaint suggested a criminal investigation is warranted.

I agree Bonnie S. They're probably gone, But I did file with the Georgia Consumer Complaint Dept. Would it also be mail fraud since the bills came through the mail?

Thanks Bonnie and Donna for taking action and for posting related information. With the new information and more recent address it will be very interesting to see what kind of response you guys get from the AG in Ga.

Look forward to reading your future posts when you get your replies. Wish we had a way to reach more owners who are in the same situation. We need LOTS and LOTS of people to step up and file complaints. the more who file, the more attention our problem will get.

Just spoke with the division of the AG office in Ga. who I got my recent letter from. I asked several questions and found out a bit more info. I will share with all of you.

1. AG office has been aware of problem and getting complaints for a LONG time.

2. The reason they forwarded my complaint (and probably others) to Florida is because the person shown on papers filed with Ga. Corporations Division (as noted in previous post by Bonnie S) that is the CFO/CEO of Carribean Services Group is listed with an address in Florida.

3. The Sec. of CSG as shown on the Ga. Corp. Div. paper (noted by Bonnie S.) has an address in Zebulon, Ga. When that address is looked at on Google Earth, it is a bunch of warehouses. Possibly all paperwork from CSG business dealings are stored there.

4. Man I spoke with assured me "this is not their first rodeo" and they were and will continue to dig into all leads and will pursue in whatever way they can.

5. Man I spoke with said what they NEEDED to find/uncover/have revealed was a MORE DIRECT CONNECTION between CSG and the State of Ga.that is active/relavent.

SO>>>>>>keep sharing info. everyone and keep spreading the word. We may help get someone prosecuted and at the very least we may help recover some funds or somehow get reimbursed.

LASTLY.....Was told that anyone filing a complaint would be notified if there were any significant developments that allowed us to have some resolution.

Thanks everyone for sharing through this forum and pursuing the problem.

Thanks for the update LSSRSS. It seems that the sending of invoices and collecting of fees in the state of Georgia should be sufficient contact with the state for them to have jurisdiction. Perhaps the AG's office just wants to foist this off on Florida. In my complaint to the Georgia AG, I sent a copy of my most recent CSG invoice from November, which has a Georgia PO Box on it. I will report back as soon as I hear anything! It will also be interesting to see if any of us get future invoices from CSG.

I just want to say Thank you to all of you who are updated with all information. I also filed with the Attorney General in Georgia and just waiting to hear from them. It is nice to know that not alone with this issue with the timeshare. My lease is paid in full and just want to be out of it legally. So will post with any updates I get and hopefully we all get answers!
