Snorkling on GBI (Rainbow Reef??)

We will be on GBI at the Westin next week 4/18 - 4/22 (my children's first visit to the island). What would be our best option for first time snorklers?? Ages 11-16, at least one not an extremely strong swimmer. Any advise?

"Not an extremely strong swimmer" pretty much leaves out Paradise Cove since the snorkeling there is quite a way off shore at Deadman's Reef. You might look into a deal going to Peterson's Cay but I have no idea how rough, or deep, the water is there. You can get some snorkeling done by walking down the Lucayan Beach (Westin's beach is part of it), past the Coral Beach Condo/Hotel complex. There is a spot down there on a small point that some have said has decent snorkeling. That may be your best bet. It is about a 25 minute walk to get there but during daylight hours you might enjoy that. We have seen sting rays traveling along in the waters off Lucayan Beach many times over the years and there is some snorkeling you could do right next to the rock jetty's at Our Lucaya, but it isn't much. Sorry if this doesn't help a great deal but we are not into this particular sport that much.
