Nightlife In the Bahamas

Hi,

My boyfriend and I are planning our vacation and we are looking at the Riu Paradise Island resort. We have seen some pictures but I know that it probably doesn't do any justice. Can someone let us know what the nightlife is like? We are in our mid-twenties and are looking for some clubs or bars to go to at night. What kind of excursions are there to do during the day? Also, what is the age range like?

If anyone has any information please let us know, it will definetly help!

Thanks!!

Hi!

I too am looking for information as to how the nightlife is. My boyfriend and I are planning a vacation and we are looking at Paradise Island as well. I have never been to the Bahamas, but i have found a web site that may be some use to you:

bahamas.com/bahamas/experience/vendors.aspx…

If you go to this website you will find a list of nightclubs in Nassau as well as some useful information on the Bahamas.

Good Luck! and let me know if you or anyone else has some helpful information.

Thanks!! ;)

There are lots of bars and clubs in Nassau, across the bridge from Paradise Island and a few right on Paradise Island.

Try the Green Parrot at Hurricane Hole Marina (www.greenparrotbar.com) for a good mix of locals, tourists and marina guests/crew. It's right on Paradise Island, great views, ok food, sometimes live music, and the age range is mostly 20's - 30's. You will find that in the Bahamas people of all ages socialize together... It's one of the things I love about it.

Other Clubs/Bars: Waterloo, Fluids, The Beach Hut, The Atlantis Casino Club (Hurricanes?), Drop Off, Blue Note.

Hope that helps.

How would I get to the Green Parrot from Breezes?

To get to the Green Parrot you will need to take a taxi or drive to Paradise Island (2 bridges connect Paradise Island to Nassau). Pick up a free tourist map anywhere and it will guide you to Paradise Island.

The Green Parrot is part of Hurricane Hole Marina on the harbourside. You can recognize it easily as it has a pool and is immediatly next to the bridge that leads traffic back over to Nassau.

Thanks for the info.

Do you know if there are any websites for the other clubs? Also, we are staying at the Riu Paradise Island and was wondering if they have any beach parties or things like that. I also heard that there was a restaurant on the beach? Is this true?

Thanks!

I will be staying at the RIU for 4 days in April. Can someone please tell me how long the trip is to the hotel from the airport. Also, does anyone know if the rooms have coffee makers? We like to have tea in our room at night and we just got back from Margarita Island where we had to go out and buy a small coffee maker. As it took 4 hours to find one, I would like to go prepared this trip!

Thanks.

Hi,

A bunch of us will be staying at the Riu Paradise the week of May 1st. I hear the drive from the airport is only around 25-30 min. Not too bad. I think the resort looks beautiful and now that the reviews are coming back so positive I know that we will have a great time. As for the coffee maker, I don't believe it has one. I didn't see it in the description of what the room has. I don't think it would be hard to get one of the restaurants to get you a tea at night as I hear they have a buffet at around 11:00pm.

Thanks for your info re: the ride from the airport as well as the resort serving a buffet at 11:00 p.m. I didn't know about that.

Yes I agree that the reviews indicate a really nice place - looking forward to it!

I stayed at the RIU Paradise Island from Mar.27-April 3/05and had a great time. Most days were spent lounging around the pool or the ocean, having some beverages or walking next door to the Atlantis resort taking in their sites. Lunch and dinner buffets were great and also ate at the steakhouse twice enjoying that also. As far as nightlife at the RIU, there are nightly shows in the main hall consisting of karioke, Bahama theme night, fashion show, etc., that all ended at around 12:00 p.m. same time as last call, which is way too early in my opinion. Nightlife existed next door at the Atlantis. We went to the casino until the wee hours of the morning and they served free drinks as long as you were playing cards or the slots. They had a disco in the middle of the casino floor but cover charge was $40.00 + drinks. The best value was at Club Waterloo in Nassau. The cab ride will cost you $5.00 a person to get you there from the RIU, covercharge was $30.00, but you could buy a VIP pass for $5.00 from the cabbie and pay another $5.00 at the door to get you in saving you $20.00. Drinks cost $4.00 a beer or $5.00 a mixed drink. The place was packed with spring breakers and an older mixed crowd. I think they are open until 4:00a.m. After a night there, its nice to get back to the quiet RIU. I hope this helps you. Cheers!!
