Visit Atlantis after 4pm?

Hi,

We're at the Sheraton in Nassau and have heard that you can visit the aquarium at Atlantis after 4pm for free. Can anyone confirm? Thought we might go over and then have dinner at one of the restaurants. Any suggestions? Ideally seafood, and casual. thanks!

Actually it is after 6PM that you can visit the aquarium for free.

You can find plenty of casual dining options at Marina Village, by the Atlantis Marina, plus it's a nice, fun stroll.

Keeping in mind that "free" is a relative term. It only means that there is no longer a security person checking resort IDs at that time. So in essence, it is not free at all -- you are taking advantage of the opportunity. The aquarium and the waterscape are for Atlantis guests who have paid for the privilege.

Just to clarify: most of the restaurants are in public spaces that are open to the public (for free) at all times.

The Dig aquarium and the grounds might not have security guards checking for wristbands or room keys after a certain hour, but there are still signs saying that the area is for registered resort guests only.

We wanted to see the Atlantis Paradise Island – Marketplace menu and the guards told us that we had to have a room key.

That's why I said 'most', not 'all', restaurants are in public space. The Marketplace is a buffet, so no menu. And it is one of the few restaurants that I would classify as being in 'restricted' areas.

Lagoon Bar and Grill is another in guest-only restricted space. Plus all the fast-food venues in the pool areas, I believe.

i would not classify the Marketplace as in a 'restricted area', I recall it being just off to the left from the 'big' gold entrance doors in the RT and behind Plato's or maybe Plato's isnt there anymore.

Anyone who tried to stop you from eating anywhere except at the beach restaurants, I'd get a manager, that is nuts.

Forgot that some of the staff there act like petty civil servants, it isnt good for biz.

In the past few years (at least during busy spring break periods when I generally visit) only hotel guests and those checking-in are allowed into the main entrance Great Hall of Waters lobby area. Others are directed directly into the casino via another entrance.

A another security check point was set up at the end of the small shopping arcade between the casino and Great Hall of Waters.

Now this set-up might vary day to day, but it certainly exists. I'd describe the staff as doing a good job, and keeping non-paying gawkers out of the areas that are supposed to be utilized by paying guests.
