Kids at resorts?

My wife and I are looking into planning a vacation in May or June and are interested in the Bahamas. We have noticed that there are several references to people taking vacations to the Bahamas with their entire family including children.

We do not have kids yet, and although we both enjoy kids, we do not want to take a vacation to a place with an atmosphere like Disneyland or the Excalibur in Vegas with kids running around everywhere.

Can anyone give us an idea of what to expect at the resorts in the Bahamas, particularly the Atlantis resort? Again, we don't mean to offend anyone with this question, but we also don't want to be surprised if we book a vacation expecting to be relaxed laying out at the pool and end up with something different.

Atlantis will be teeming with kids, as well as teenagers. It's a very family oriented property. It's a Theme Water park with a casino. Not a relaxing, romantic getaway, although, you can find places along the outer beach to chill out, but the pools are pretty frenzied. This is a 24/7 event.

If you want quiet romance, head to the Ocean Club nearby. A bit more pricey, but worth it.

I just got back from Atlantis with my husband. We had a great time, but were suprised by the amount of infants and toddlers at the resort. We have two small children and felt as if we should have brought them with us. There were not a whole lot of "romantic" places to escape to. Even the bars had kids in them. It was a great trip, but not an escape from children.
