RIU Paradise Island

We're to RIU next month and I had a few questions. First off, has anyone stayed there? I know it only opened in Dec. but there aren't any reviews at all. Secondly do you know if you can use the water park at Atlantis if you're not staying there? Does it cost extra and if so how much?

Many thanks!

Haven't been to RUI yet, (not sure it's even open yet), but I know that you will NOT have access to the waterpark at Atlantis and there are no day passes for use of the atlantis property. (off season, they sell Day Rooms which is basically the same price as renting a room for the nite).

The passes offered to Atlantis is to view the DIGS - which is the indoor aquariums.

Everyone is invited to use the casino and shop in the upscale stores at Atlantis.

The RIU is not a 'new' hotel...it was an older hotel that was recently purchased by RIU and has been remodeled. I was at the Atlantis In June and they were still doing construction. Its not a very large hotel but from what I understand, the renovations they have done is making it more appealing. The beach and water is beautiful though! That hotel does not offer access to anything at the Atlantis. If you want a moderate hotel w/full Atlantis access, stay across the street at the Comfort Suites.

I'm booked for 4 days on Jan 20, 05. Will post my findings.

Being a 5 star, I am really looking forward to this vacation, although short.

I've been to Cozumel's Alegro Village (4.5 star), Costa Rica's Costa Smiralda (4 star), various resorts in Cuba (4 star at least), and many of the caribbean islands on Cruise ships. Will make a comparison........

We are leaving for the RIU tomorrow morning for the Christmas Holidays. Have been to many Caribbean Islands and traveled extensively in Europe. This is now a 5 star hotel, and upon my return I will post my review:)
