I posted a review here, but will probably not be posted for a few days. We had a BLAST!! Great to meet Nikki and Charles - thanks for taking pics for us at the wedding of our group!!!! Here is review.....
We came back from Nassau and our 7 day stay at BREEZES on the 17th and had a fabulous time. I have read all the poor reviews and comments from cruisers on how they hate Nassau and do not even bother to get off of the ship and all I can say is WOW as there is sooo much to do and see here and our group of 39 found no major disappointments.
We arrived on February 11th promptly at 11am and were able to enjoy the beautiful day in the sun with unlimited cocktails and food. The water was breathtakingly beautiful and the people of the Bahamas were the kindest, most generous and colorful people we have ever met. We traveled with a group from age 19-72 and everyone wants to go back.
Upon arrival there we were greeted with a wonderful welcome sign for my group of 39 that were traveling with us. Ages ranged from 19-72 years old. We had a private check-in in the main lounge area and were greeted with wonderful and kind servers with cocktails!! NICE!! We arrived before check-in and our luggage was stored for us (under watchful eyes of security) and we were able to enjoyt the resort before our rooms were ready around 2pm.
EVERYONE found their rooms nice and CLEAN with no major problems. My room 477 OF was great although we could not turn off the air the first couple of days (until we figured it out). I had some paint peeling in bathroom (no exhaust fans in bathroom) and our ceiling leaked twice near the closet. I would book this room again. They quickly changed ceiling tiles for us. Our housekeeper did a wonderful job!!
There were minor problems others in my group had that were taken care of immediately eg: balcony door would not open, toilet kept flushing, tub drain. All minor problems and everyone still wants to go back again.
Resort was very clean as well as the public rooms and the staff was constantly cleaning. Everyone we met at BREEZES was 100% friendly and kind....everyone was treated like gold for the most part.
The food was very good and I almost consider the buffet better than what I have had on some cruiseships. There is plenty for everyone to enjoy and my group consisted of a couple of chefs who were very pleased with our choices. At the buffet you could get omelets made to order as well as eggs any way you like them. Usual fare was potatoes, corned beef hash, bacon, sausage, stewed conch or other fish, tons of fresh fruits and pastries. Also a station with a bottle of Absolute and a bottle of champagne where you can make your own morning bloody marys or mimosas. Breakfast was always wonderful and service phenomenal. Lunch and dinner were also very good at the buffet with wonderful choices. Always fresh fish, conch and chicken. Pork, steaks and other items available also...very, very good and the food is tasty. Salads galore. Pop, juice, milk and coffee stations. The cooks prepare food on grills in front of you to put in the buffet. I have restaurant and outdoor grill menus posted on webshots with food pics also.
Not hard to get reservations for the two specialty restaurants (PASTAFARI AND GARDEN OF EDEN) if you get to reservation desk early. Or you can call from your room at 8am. Terry at desk is a wonderful hostess. Most of our group ate at specialty restaurants 3 out of the 6 nights. Food was delish. Salmon brushetta was great as well as the filet mignon at Pastafari. They also have a wonderful antipasto bar...yummm.
Try the lobster bisque at Garden of Eden as well as the escargot appetizer and caesar salad.
Drinks all top shelf with add your own rum at the main bar with 4 frozen drink mixes to use. I did the Miami Vice thing EVERY day with my rum/1/2 pina and 1/2 strawberry daiq with a splash of rum on top. SOOO GOOD. Staff was friendly and quick for the most part. Noone in my group had complaints about service whatsoever.
From Arawak Cay, Yellowbird, $1 jitneys, cab-drivers, Crystal Palace casino, Bay Street, colorful downtown, swimming with dolphins, straw market shopping, daiq shacks and beautiful beaches..you could not ask for more. There is so much to do here and so many wonderful people to meet. I will be adding mini breakdowns on the excursions later.
There is a small pink straw-market (great deals and not too crowded) and a Daiquiri shack on the walk to the casino or all within 5 minutes or so of BREEZES. There is a walkway down the center of the two roads in front of Breezes and I recommend this path as it is sooooo beautiful.
The $1 bus will take you just about anywhere and they are a pretty nice and cheap way to see some of the island. Just tell your bus driver where you want to go and they will take you there.
We met up with Scubagirrl (Michele) and BF Captain Jay on the Yellowbird on Valentine’s Day and had a blast with them. I can actually say that they are two of the nicest people we have ever met..and a lot of FUN!!!! We had a wonderful day and will do my
small reviews on the wonderful Nassau sights in the days to come. The views from the Yellowbird were amazing.
Breezes exceeded our expectations all the way around and we plan to go back again sometime next year. There were many cruisers there on day and night time passes throughout the week.We had a very beautiful beach wedding on the 15th at 10:30 am (Thanks Crystal and Yasmine!!) Just fantastic.
I will be posting the 7 day NEW Breezes itinerary in the next few days.
It is a wonderful slice of heaven………..
