Robbery-Be careful

Robbery-Be careful

We just got back from a wonderful trip to St Johns VI and stayed in the Villa Venturosa out side of Cruz Bay with 3 families. It was a wonderful 6 days except the last night, when the bottom floor of the villa was broken into with people( teenage kids) sleeping. The intruders took knapsacks. The knapsacks were recovered but the money was missing. We had the bottom doors open with the screen door locked. It was our fault leaving the glass doors open at night. We did it for air flow and during the day when not there we locked everything. Just be careful of intruders entering villas at night. Still a wonderful place.

Thanks for the heads up. It is always terrible when someone is a robbery victim on vacation.

It is a good reminder for everyone to lock up.

Thanks for the reminder. Sometimes we forget, even in paradise there are bad people.

There is a huge difference between robbery and burglary -- Robbery is the taking away by force, violence or threat.

Burglary is breaking into a building with felonious intent.

We were a victim of a grab and snatch in May- a couple of beach bags that we left by the pool area. Luckily, the most they got was an inexpensive phone and some sunscreen. It is important to lock up and not leave items around since alot of the villas have open areas. Mostly just punk kids, I think.

Well that really stinks. Sorry to hear about that. I'm glad no one was hurt. And yes, a good reminder to lock up. Theft certainly does happen. Usually cash, small electronics, things that are easy to sell on the street. We do have a small population of homeless people and drug addicts on island. Drugs addiction can be a strong motivator for petty theft. I wish we were immune!!! But we are not.

kberbones, where were you when someone snatched your bags? At a villa?

And Yet another 1st post by an actual Apito Night Of Terror survivor -- which was not a burglary or robbery.

Nice response.........I love it.

Seems, in general, that the further you get from Cruz Bay and Centerline, the less you hear about break-ins and petty theft. The harder it is to get to a villa, the less it becomes easy pickings. We always stay in Coral Bay.

Pathetic attempt by the NJ trolls who continue to propagate their BS. Seems they've thought up some new bunk to put forth. How many times does TA need to pull your posts for you to get the message?
