Caribbean Honeymoon Suggestions

Hi Everyone. We need your help! My beautiful new fiancee and I would like to plan a Caribbean honeymoon. After reading many of the posts on the forums here, it appears as though St John or Anguilla may fit the bill for us. However, we are open minded to hearing suggestions about other possible Caribbean destinations. We are in our 30s and neither of us have kids. We are not really big party people but we do enjoy getting out and letting loose every once in a while. We like going out to eat at nice restaurants although we also like cool quaint little eateries as well. We are both pretty active and love outdoor activities. We enjoy water sports such as snorkeling and swimming. I particularly like deep sea fishing as well. We also enjoy short excursions, road trips and sight seeing. It appears that finding one island that offers it all is not an easy task. Our ideal destination would give us the best of both worlds. However, we are willing to compromise and perhaps stay a few nights on one island to enjoy the night life and activities and be close enough to take a short ferry trip to another island for a few nights to getaway from it all and relax. Anyone's feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

St. John & Anguilla are 2 very different islands. St. John is hilly, somewhat lush, has a variety of smaller "cove like" light golden sand beaches, great "off-beach" snorkeling, and 2/3's of it is a National Park so it's in it's natural state. The island has several very good restaurants and some modest shopping. It is also in close proximity to St. Thomas where you can do a lot of duty free shopping and many of the British Virgin Islands are a short ferry ride or two away.

Anguilla, on the other hand, is flat, arid, scrubby with little natural vegetation but it boasts 35 fabulous long sugar white sand beaches. There's very little "off-beach" snorkeling but it has over 80 restaurants (some among the best in the Caribbean). You can easily visit St. Martin (a 20 minute ferry ride) or nearby St. Barth's (by plane or ferry from St. Martin) for shopping, sightseeing and dinning alternatives.

Neither island is very big so "road trips" should not be a high priority as you can drive from one end of Anguilla to the other is under 30 minutes and you can circumvent St. Barth's in a little less time. Deep sea fishing charters are available from both islands.
