Caneel Beaches

We're here right now and have gotten mixed responses...does anyone know if the caneel beaches are still open while the resort is shut down? I mean can we pay our $20 and park there too...not via a trail :)! Thanks so much!

The gate will not be open and you can not use the grounds to access the beaches while they are closed.

At least that is what the Caneel employee told me yesterday when I called

You may be able to get to Honeymoon if you hike in from the Cruz bay side. However, you'll pass Solomon so you may want to stay there and save the walk. I'm not positive, but there may be access from the Upper Lind Point Trail also.

It is not very far from Solomon to Honeymoon and is a nice trail...

HMMM- Although you can't drive in, there have been tons of people parking out by the gate and walking through, so presumably at least Honeymoon is accessible. The main beach may be blocked by construction projects. Caneel was pretending that the Park shut down affected their beaches, which was not the case, but cars there every day this week.

Confirmed - park outside Caneel and you can walk in to Honeymoon without the usual $20 parking/charge. The other Caneel beaches, we were told, are off limits while they do some low season construction and maintenance.

Honeymoon and Solomon are open. Not sure about Caneel's main beach near the restaurants but that one was open in the past. Only other way to access beaches is by boat or through Caneel approved tour vendors.

There is a trail right up the hill from Hawksnest. It has a cable across it but anybody could just go over or under it. It will take awhile but the trail will lead you to an access trail to Turtle Bay.
