Villas - Elysium, Island TIme, Allesandra

Looking to get back to St. John in early July right after carnival. This time we are taking our 2 daughters (14 & 11 years old). We want a fully AC villa with good views and decent decor. We also want to stay on the south shore side or possibly Gift Hill. Any thoughts on these 3 villas? Elysium seems to be quite a WAYs out from town. We stayed on Fish Bay for our last trip but closer to Cruz Bay. All input is appreciated!

Allessandra would be fantastic, but it will be hot hot hot unless you pay the $$ to get AC in the main room. Island time is a great choice. Very breezy.

After looking again, I think Allessandra is above what we'd like to spend. Miles Away is another option closer to our price range. Any info on Miles Away?

I've spent 2 consecutive years, 2 weeks at a time in Elysium. It's a very nice villa with everything you need including AC and 2 suites. There are a couple things to consider.

1. It's far from town and beaches but it's super quiet and relaxing. In our entire 2 week stay we only saw 1 other car. However if you want to drive home before dinner to clean up the time to drive home adds up.

2. The decor is warm and inviting but the room/bathrooms are small. It's big enough for 4 but not huge. The suites are attached by a common wall and you can hear loud talking between the suites.

3. It has a view but it's not a Wow! view. This house is low in Fish Bay but the plus side is you can walk to Cocolobo beach in Fish Bay. It's not really a swimming beach but it's fun to explore.

4. Rental history is good because it's priced right. It's hard to find something similar with all the amenities at the same price.

Summary: We liked the house very much but this year the 4 of us are going to stay in a larger home closer to town in Virgin Grand.

Elysium is on our redo list...we stayed there for our Honeymoon in 2011 and are going back this October...the pool, hot tub, everything about the place was just what we needed...it is quiet and a bit out of Cruz Bay...maybe 15 minutes...but you really don't notice...the walking beach...Cocolobo...is great for shell exploring...the girls will love it...we actually hiked all the way to the edge of Reef Bay one day...we liked the view...the birds, the sounds, etc...it is out of the way, but the amenities called us back this year...

Thanks so much for your input. PlanetBurk - I appreciate the details about the view, room set-up and drive to town. If we weren't taking the girls we'd probably consider it more for the privacy, but that won't be a big concern this trip. :)
