Which beaches at Caneel Bay are private? Which ones shouldn't we miss? Thanks!

1. Re: Caneel Bay Beaches

As I understand things on St John, none of the beaches are private, but access can be blocked by landowners. You can access all Caneel beaches from the water. From land the hotel allows day guests to use Main Caneel beach, but you can't use the beach chairs, etc which are reserved for hotel guests. Stilll its a pretty beach and you have the Caneel restaurants for food. However, just a short walk from Caneel is Honeymoon beach which is not part of the resort property. You can walk there from the resort. There are some picnic tables and very modest restroom facilities. Honeymoon is a beautiful beach but sometimes can be spoiled by the arrival of a large group of snorkelers off a cruise in St. Thomas. You can also do a short hike to Honeymoon from the Park Ranger station in Cruz Bay. The rest of the island has great beaches all along the north shore. Enjoy.
