Sugar Bay All Inclusive Yes/No??

Looking to go to St. Thomas and am seriously considering the Sugar Bay because of the all inclusive. Is it a good spot? We will not have a car, so we will be using cabs etc.

We are interested in just hanging out at the beach(es), pools and shopping in town. We are planning the first week in December 2013.

We don't have a great budget but we got a good deal at $1,600pp headed from Boston... the other couple we are going with said it's too expensive -- we on the other hand think it is fine, we prefer not to go any higher if at all possible.

All I can do is be very blunt and honest. The only resort which offers full AI in the US Virgin Islands is the Sugar Bay Resort and one of the reasons they're the only resort which offers it is because AI has never been popular here. The US Virgins are islands where people come to relax, enjoy and explore. Unlike several other Caribbean destinations where, to be safe you have to be basically "compounded" in a resort, that's not the case here where the majority of visitors rent a vehicle and get out and about to explore, plus enjoy the huge variety of restaurants.

Sugar Bay has recently changed management yet again and the new company plans extensive renovations but still apparently plans to maintain the AI concept. Hotel food is hotel food and throughout its management changes as a full AI or partial AI resort, nobody has ever raved about the food there. The beach is nothing to write home about but within a 5-10 minute drive you have the best beaches on St Thomas to enjoy - Coki, Sapphire, Smith Bay Park and Secret Harbour - with Magens Bay about a 15-20 minute drive away (max driving speed is 35MPH and usual driving speed is 20-30MPH).

I think if you read through the general information on this forum, threads on this forum and utilize the search engine, you'll have a better idea about what vacationing here is all about. You may end up opting for a condo or villa rental or you may decide that another island with AI options would better suit you all.

Yes, you can get around in taxis here but the minimum fare of $4 per person will get you just a few blocks. Having your own vehicle with the ability to go where you want to go when you want to go is priceless!

I'm sure you'll get more input from others!

"Big Poppi" couldn't handle all the stairs there. Even Ellsbury would have a problem

The players would not find the food acceptable for the post game spread

Find a different dugout
