Looking for budget friendly hotel in St. Thomas

Looking for a budget friendly & safe hotel close to or on the beach. Do not need an AI, but I am open to all suggestions.

Thank you,

You could look at the Best Western Emerald Beach Resort but also consider renting a condo on Sapphire Beach. If you go to www.vrbo.com you'll find many options between Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina, Sapphire Village and Crystal Cove.

You mentioned budget friendly so there are a few things to consider. There are some hotels on the beach but in St. Thomas there are many more "condo hotels". They are budget friendly because you are on the beach but have a full kitchen for breakfast, lunch, and dinner if you choose. Most also have food and drink options if that is your preference

The east end has many options

There is Sapphire Beach condos and there is the Village which sits up on the hill. I believe that the village would have cheaper options. We needed a last minute option and we were able to get a nice condo in the village at condodelmar.com. Nice person to work with.

We did like sitting out on the patio over the marina and watching all the boats. The walk to the beach was also easy because we were in the building that was the lowest on that huge hill.

Another budget friendly option that is often overlooked because it's not on the beach is the Mafolie Hotel. It's an old, boutique hotel that includes a continental breakfast and a daily shuttle to and from Magens Bay Beach and downtown Charlotte Amalie. The daily taxi fare you save can really accumulate. Not the Ritz, but Mafolie has a million-dollar view from its hillside perch.

The only place we have stayed on the island is Sapphire Beach Resort. But we will gladly go back. It was unbelievably reasonable. Great views. Loved our condo. Cannot wait to go back! We were there in December 2012 and we head back tomorrow if I could!!!!!!!

If you go the condo/vacation rental route(which if done properly is a good one), it is EXTREMELY important to rent DIRECTLY from an owner, and NOT through any intermediate third party. By and large, the units that are rented directly by owners are in much better condition than those rented through third parties, and the owners treat their guests better then the third parties do. Just look at the menus at VRBO and HomeAway, and choose from those that have a bunch of good reviews on the VRBO/HA page and/or in the TripAdvisor review section. This does not apply to Secret Harbor, where all rentals must be through the condominium management.

Also, you will find condominiums to rent that are not part of "condominium hotels", but are simply condominiums.
