Newbie Here - Customs/Immigration Question

We're looking at booking our first St. Croix vacation. My question is - our flight coming back has two layovers, the first one is in Miami and is very short (45 mins), would we need to go thru customs/immigration in Miami (therefore, 45 mins. wouldn't be enough) or since St. Croix is a "no passport needed" island, do we arrive in the domestic terminal?

This is a totally new experience for me, we visited St. Croix on a cruise ship and loved it so hoping to make it back!

Customs is in St. Croix. You will have no problems in Miami and you will be in the domestic terminal

Great choice in picking St. Croix for a vacation. We also visited the first time via cruise ship and we are anxiously awaiting our 3rd trip in March. First year we only stayed a week and now we stay 2 weeks. This will be our first year to be lucky enough to by pass San Juan and return to Miami and then on to Chicago so glad that Crabgroupie had the answer for you. Happy planning.
