Haven't been, yet - YEAH 2014 :)) But, TCI is furthest south islands by about 500 miles before PR, STT, etc.; it will be BRISK, I imagine. We watched Canadians swim at Hilton Head, SC in Nov, though, so Husby-Amp and me are on the same page.

I wouldn't say water temperature around Provo is comfortable for extended swimming periods(more then 20-30 minutes) with it being about 76 degrees in early January. But I am use to the Great Lakes water temperatures during the months of June, July , August and September being only in the mid-high 60's to swim in. BRRR... DR. JIM

We're from Texas and we went to Exuma Bahamas last year around the same week. We thought it was a little too cold for snorkeling. Guess we'll find out! Do you think the water will be suitable for kayaking chalk sound?

Between VA Beach and Ocean City in JUNE I find the water colder than Grace Bay in January.

I also find Grace Bay warmer than Exumas too.

So it's all perspective.

Only been once during January. Water was a bit cool, but warmed up quickly. The sunshine was a big help.

Let us know how it was. I'll be there soon after you. 8)

It's relative. Some locals think we're crazy to be in 75-77 F water.

Hell, my backyard pool is cooler than that most of the summer. The seashore MIGHT reach close to that in early August for a week or so.

T&C beaches are a paradise year-round.

Turquoise. The water will be turquoise.

Kidding aside, being Canadian we have no issue going snorkeling/swimming during the winter months. Its certainly not like walking into a bath, but generally at that time of the year the water at home is walkable so a refreshing swim is nice especially after a long walk on the beach.

We've been to the Bahamas during December and the water in TCI is quite a bit warmer. In the Bahamas I had to wear a wetsuit to keep from shivering; not so in TCI.

If you have any doubts be sure to bring a swim shirt or rash guard with you. That way you can stay in the water longer plus it will guard you from getting too sunburned.

Have fun!
