So where's the best shore diving in Turks & Caicos?
do you have all your own kit or will you need to rent it?
We would have to rent, hubby has bcd and regulators, I have nothing:(
I saw shore diving advertised on GT, if you book 3 dives you get free unlimited shore diving but am hearing its not great?
have never dived off GT but have done a little shore diving off Northwest point.
really you need your own kit.
not much shore diving off Provo as the "wall" is too far out - whereas in GT is right off the shore.
Actually, GT requires a boat or skiff, although close to shore, it's just a little to far to swim out with equipment.
GT reefs by the shore are probably about 3 minutes with a boat.
The best diving is South Caicos, but right now there's no one there to rent you equipment, take you out, etc. When they open East End Resort there will finally be facilities. South has amazing viz, healthy reefs, even a plane wreck (unless hurricane Sandy disintegrated it, previous hurricanes broke it up)
From Provo, you can scuba off the beach at Smiths Reef, but make sure to have a flag on the surface as it's close to marina entrance. you can also head out to Northwest Point.
Most scuba From Provo really goes to West Caicos and French Cay.
I wish I had Matt's contact info, he used to be based out of Coral Gardens. He was the best for all of TCI info. I think he's a realtor now? If we can't figure out how to contact him, then send Jodi of Snuba an email and she can guide you.
Over in Grand Turk, Contact Mitch Rolling at Blue Water Divers, he's great! (he also plays live music at Osprey resort some nights). Or Smitty at gtdiving.com.
You can also split you GT vacation with Salt Cay. You can contact Debbie at Salt Cay divers or Tim at crystal Sea Adventures.
Go to Coral Gardens when you get in and Matt may be able to take you out but usually on Thursdays only on his day off.
