Sunday School - How safe?

I have heard about Sunday School and it seems very appealing to me.

Can anyone who has been there, tell me if they think it is safe for 2 middle aged "party animal" women to attend?

I have read some worrying reports about the crime in Tobago recently but none have specifically mentioned Sunday School.

What are your views?

We love Sunday School! It has certainly had problems in the past but the new venue feels very much better and is well lit. However, you should make sure that you have a trusted guide with you so that you feel comfortable. I can help with this if you wish. Most importantly....enjoy!

We (4 women) just went to Sunday school and felt very safe. We took a taxi there (no tour guide) and the venue was filled with tourists. Ask around town for Marlin. He drove us and picked us up as well. I'm not sure what a tour guide would do for you there.

Your own guide would stay ln close proximity all evening and be there in the event of problems. Usually there is no problem at Sunday School whilst the majority of the tourists and the steel band are there, it is later in the night if problems happen. Some people can be quite persistent towards single females.

We got there around 8 pm, easily parked and proceeded to sit down and have a big plate of local cooking...absolutely delicious and then waited till about 9:30 to hear the steel band. It was crowded but we stood over by the bar and had a great place to take in most of the performance, really enjoyed seeing/hearing a live steel band... we felt absolutely safe (there were lots of fellow tourists there) but we left around 11 pm

A Must Do! evening event.

proper sunday school does not start till after ten or later. You will get chatted up by the locals, they are under the misguided impression that white women means lots of money! Stay together and you will be fine.

Sunday school is an old tradition of gathering at Buccoo Beach front every Sunday night. Been going on for a billion years it seems. It has changed quite a few times over the years, but mainly is a beach party with kiosks, food and music. I've seen large crowds and small crowds. Tends to get crazier (and sometimes violent) the later the evening gets....typical of mixing booze, drugs and testosterone! It's a lot of fun earlier on....and safe, but can get rowdy in the wee hours. I was told by a few locals that the name Sunday School came from the original groups of men who would sneak away and say they were going to Sunday School or Church to get away from home life and party it up a bit lol

The Sunday School is very safe with lots of both tourists and locals. It's a really great experience and you should definitely go.

Oh it's Sunday night. For some reason I was thinking it was a Sunday morning by a river lol

It's sort of like the Friday night street party in St. Lucia?
