International driving permit?

Can you use an international driving permit in St. Kitt's and Nevis instead of purchasing a permit on the islands?

No, you have to purchase a "Temporary" local license. Can't recall exact price but it's around $24US.

Thank you. Do you have any recommendations on car rental agencies. We only need a small vehicle to get from point A to point B and approximate prices. May only rent for a day.

You can find a list of car rental companies (with contact info & links to their respective websites where you'll find rental rates) on the following websites:

stkittstourism.kn/explore-st-kitts-getting-a…

discover-stkitts-nevis-beaches.com/st-kitts-…

FYI - rates don't vary much between vendors. Depending on the size vehicle you need expect to pay around $40US to $45US per day for a small car up to $95US to $100US per day for a large SUV. You'll get a discount if you rent for a week.

Many of the regular contributors on this forum use Bullseye Car rental but like I said they are all about equal.

If you only need a car for the day, it may be cheaper to take a taxi, than to buy a license and rent a car.

I might be mistaken but I thought Bullseye only rented on St. Kitts

WorldWend brings up a good point. I "missed" that OP posted the question on the "Nevis" only forum so he/she is correct - Bullseye is only on St. Kitts. The second ("Discover St. Kitts-Nevis") link I gave lists the rental companies on both islands so if OP is staying on Nevis he can choose one of those listed from the Nevis list.

Like on St. Kitts they are all pretty much the same - Thrifty, Striker's, M&M's, Mervin's, Noel's and Teach are all reliable and used by many tourists.

Consider taking Ting's advice to take a taxi if only renting for one day and only interested in getting from "point A to point B".

Hi Bigg Papa,

We were just on Nevis (at Nisbet Plantation) and calculated that it was cheaper to rent a small car than take taxis to multiple restaurants. We rented from Parry's Car Rental and they delivered and picked up the car. We had to pay US$25 for a local drivers license, but it was still more cost effective than taxis.
