Walking and taking hikes

Does anyone have any information or advice on what sorts of walking/hiking can be done on St. Kitts? We can't manage to do the longer, more strenuous hikes, but we would like to take a 1 or 2 hour hike to see the rainforest area. Is it necessary to have a guide or can people follow trails and hike at their own pace? Thanks!

You can easily walk through the rainforest at Ottley's Plantation on your own.

You are better off with a guide, in my opinion, as it is easy to get disoriented and lost. Ottley's trail is more of a stroll than a hike, and is probably one of the few exceptions. Guided hikes can be tailored to your level of ability, but most importantly, it is an opportunity to learn unique facts that would not be possible if you strike out on your own.
