Nevis or Antigua?

With toddlers? Considering Nisbet or Carlisle Bay in Antigua. Feb 2014. Want a beautiful beach, calm water, and laid back luxury. Anyone been to both? One better suited for toddlers? We dont use kids clubs - just need it to be safe, clean, easy access to beach. Also, is travel into Nevis cumbersome? (Antigua is direct flight from Miami). TIA!

Normally you'll find the water calmer and the drop-off as you enter much more gradual at Carlisle Bay than at the Four Seasons.

Both are safe resorts, very clean and offer easy access to the beach. As for being "toddle friendly" and having other amenities and luxuries, both resorts are on a par with each other.

I see that you're considering Nisbet Plantation. The beach there can sometimes be quite windy and so it is not a great location for toddlers, in my opinion.

The two hotels on the calmer Caribbean side of Nevis are the Four Seasons, mentioned by CaribSurfer above, and Oualie Beach. The water at Oualie is very calm and I've seen many young children there. It is a more modest hotel than Nisbet.

Agree with Ting, Nisbet's beach is going to be too wavy and has too steep of a drop-off to call it toddler friendly.

While Oualie Beach has the calmest waters on the island, the resort is far from having "laid back luxury" - that's just not what you'll find at Oualie Beach.
