Grocery Stores on Cayman Brac

How good are the grocery stores on cayman brac? We like to cook, so this would be important to us.

The gocery store in the west end and the one in Stake Bay are both good with a good variety in each--better they we had expected

However, from our experience there is not much fresh produce or fresh meat. If you see something one day, be sure to grab it, it might not be there the next day. We happened to be there when the seas were rough and the barge couldn't get into the brac, so there was not even fresh milk for awhile. You also need to check the dates on things.

We had the same experience as caymanshelly, high seas and no barge, so very little options. We went to all the stores on the island just to see what everybody had. The Marketplace on west end is the best for finding more specialized items (good selection of cheeses, and lots of dry goods that other places did not have), best prices too. Billy's supermarket on the north east side is alright too. The woman that runs the place lives next door and we needed some fresh mint and other herbs, she took us into her garden and gave us (for free) everything we needed, it was very cool. Just don't expect much, everything is frozen and very expensive, don't go to the store with too much of a plan, rather go and see what they have, then work your meal around that. Hopefully your rental house has some spices and odds and ends so you don't have to buy all of that.
