Camana Bay to Seven Mile Beach

Hi All,

How far a walk is it from Camana Bay to Seven Mile Beach?

We are staying at Kaibo and were hoping to take a water taxi from Kaibo to Camana Bay. Is it a far walk from the drop off at Camana to Seven Mile beach area (restaurants etc) or should we take a cab from there? What is around Camana Bay to see? Are there restaurants there too you would recommend?

I hear there is a movie theater in the area....where exactly is that? Teenagers...

Thanks,

Carrie

Have you considered renting a car to explore the island? We have found that the best way to get around and really see and experience Cayman. You can drive the whole island end to end in 90 minutes or so. I would personally say you need to take a taxi/bus to get from Camana Bay to any beach area along Seven Mile Beach, as well as to get to Georgetown. The movie theater is at Camana Bay. There are also a lot of shops/restaurants there. We haven't spent a ton of time at Camana Bay on our trips as we like to be on the beach/in the water. Although we have been to the movies a few times on rainy days and it's a nice theater.

Looks like it's not too far at all to walk.

Thanks!

Also check out the Events Calendar for Camana Bay (you'll find in their website that Filter posted)....it'll show both regularly scheduled activities and special events at Camana Bay. We visited at the end of November and found out about their Christmas Tree Lighting event through this calendar. Also planned dinner reservations at Ortanique (also at Camana Bay) and it made for a fun family night out.

One tip is keep checking the calendar the closer you get to your travel dates, especially if you plan on going to any of their scheduled events. It was by re-checking the calendar that we found out about the time change for the Christmas Tree Lighting. We were also able to change our dinner reservations to correlate with the event before it was too late to do so.

You can walk and may take you about 20 minutes but the quality of beach that you'll see may not be the best representation of SMB (south vs north). I agree that renting a car is the way to go.

While you're at Camana Bay, be sure to check out the mosaic in the observation tower -- it is stunning! The walkway from CB to West Bay Road is a "nature walk" that demonstrates the different botanical zones of the island. Busses that cost a couple of bucks per person run frequently up and down WBR and can take you back and forth to G-town and any part of SMB that you want to see. (I'm a big fan of renting a car and seeing lots of different places and beaches around the island, and also for the grocery store).

Thanks for the suggestions!

We are renting a car for the week, however, some of us may want to split up and this seemed like a great way for our adult kids to get out on their own.

that water taxi doesn't seem to go all the time and when it goes it is at night. I don't know if they need a certain number of people, but I would check with them directly.

There's lots to do in Camana Bay. You'll find great shops and restaurants, a cinema, interactive fountains that are very popular with kids and an observation tower with an incredible mosaic and spectacular views of the island. Camana Bay also hosts a lot of events including a popular farmers market on Wednesday afternoons and a live music series on Friday nights. The walk from Camana Bay to Seven Mile Beach is only a few minutes and there is a pretty botanic boulevard along the way.
