hurricane sandy

My husband and I just cancelled our trip to Jamaica, set to leave this Saturday 10/27 due to the hurricane. We really would like to go away still, how is the seven mile beach weather and water due to the hurricane? Any help would be great.

It's fresh and breezy, the sea is choppy, and a few sun showers have passed our way.

Sounds like Sandy might have much much more of an impact on Long Island than she did in Grand Cayman. Just hung up with my daughter who said there were actually some waves along SMB, but really nothing else. Hopefully we will be as lucky come Monday night. Then again it might just be the weathermen getting all excited, however, it is just about the anniversary of last year's freak snow storm!!!

Just got back Sunday 10/28 and Sandy was gone. We had a lot of wind, some rain, and lots of waves, but it wasn't anything significant, though our Submarine tour and Sunset Cruise on Thursday and Friday were cancelled due to wind/waves. Sunday it had some pretty big waves on the west end but pretty calm on the north, east, and south sides of the island. Look at a map of GC, if you see a reef along the beach then waves will be much, much less than if there isn't one.

Jamaica is a Third World country with many poor neighborhoods. I have many friends and family from Jamaica and would not call the entire country a slum any more than I would call NYC a slum because Jamaica, Queens has some bad neighborhoods.
