I don't think that you can dive off Rum Point as there is no one there that supplies tanks. It is a shame you don't care about rays -- after many many years of diving they are one of the coolest things that you can see. From the North Sound out to the sea we have seen lemon rays, eagle rays and so many other only in the Caymans creatures. Snorkeling from Rum Point is a blast. Have fun.

Cayman is a relatively safe island where you can feel comfortable wandering around on your own. People are very friendly and helpful and you can drive all around the island without worry. Remember to keep your senses though and do not leave money on your beach towel or that type of thing and you should be fine. Re: your cruise ship question....I do not like to answer questions such as yours as I do not know what kind of time restraints you are under on your cruise and do not want to give you the wrong type of advice, But...if you do get a chance to get up to Rum Point....it would be a wonderfully, peaceful day! :-)

You aren't going to see much in the way of coral as Rum Point is predominately a pier with some fish under it. The bottom is sand and sea grass not coral. It is a good spot for families and swimming but you can find much better snorkeling spots on the island but time constraints may be an issue for you.

I should have said that to see coral at Rum Point you will need to swim quite a distance.

Have a look at caymanislandsdiscounts.com/OffshoreSnorkelin… and/or google "best snorkel grand cayman" for alternatives.
