STAY AWAY from Equinox House. A company called Areana Villas has taken over management. Our June 2013 visit was beset by disaster. The villa is in a lovely location and was once clearly a much-loved house. But what a nightmare! On Sunday morning, the plumbing failed and backed up raw sewage throughout the guest house. It turned out there was a root in the line, but Areana had no plumbers on call, so one single long -suffering workman dug up the line himself.,, it took two long days.

The plumbing didn't work again until Monday evening: no toilets, showers, kitchen sink, anything. We were reduced to using restaurants for toilets for two days and dipping into the chlorinated pool to try to stay clean.

We lacked air conditioning in half the main living areas for our entire trip (they couldn't find the remote to turn it on). The guest house also had no air from our arrival Saturday until Monday night. We ended up dragging mattresses into the main house living room to try to sleep.

And in the end? No credit on our very considerable bill... the contract says no adjustments for "mechanical" failures. They offered us $300 off our next booking. Given that we were still washing the sewage out of our clothes when the offered, we didn't accept.

Go elsewhere and have a wonderful vacation!

What a nice time! Sorry to hear of your terrible luck...

Things do happen of course, but this reads like a comedy script (not for you I know). And the timing for the new owner is also unbelievable. But they should have reimbursed you something.

At least the next visitors will have a good working drain!
