Best BVI for 2 families traveling together?

We are looking to go with our family (2 kids ages 12 & 13) with my sister's family (1 kid age 8) to BVI for a week. We're laid back, easy going, not big drinkers.

My husband is interested in spear fishing (if allowed in BVI), lobstering, snorkeling. he doesn't like to lay around on the beach. Sister and I and kids like to swim, snorkel and hang out. We'd love to try local food (Roti, seafood, etc.) but plastic plates and plastic chairs are more of our speed than dressing up. When I vacation I like to only bring swimsuit, cargo shorts and shirts.

We've looked at Cooper's Island (villa), Jost Van Dyke, and Aneganda. I think the prices were better for larger accomodations. Not interested in St. Thomas with day trips. What we priced on Tortola seemed high.

Best suggestions for a week long stay, probably at a villa or place that can accomodate 7 people?

I think Virgin Gorda would be your best option. Your husband would be bored on the other islands that you mentioned, especially Anegada, as the beaches are the main thing there. You could rent a villa on Mahoe Bay, a great beach with fantastic snorkelling right from shore and large villas that would accommodate your group. There is also a tennis court for guests and all of the villas have swimming pools. It is easy to do day trips to other islands from Virgin Gorda, and there are some good casual restaurants. Also, because it is a small island, everywhere else that you might want to go, is only a 10-15 min. drive from the villa. Spearfishing and lobstering are both ILLEGAL and removing any marine organism from BVI waters is illegal without a permit and considered poaching. For villas on Mahoe Bay, check Virgin Gorda Villa Rentals at::

or Purple Pineapple at:

I think that Virgin Gorda would have the right mix to satisfy everyone in your family. Cheers!
