The major credit cards of Visa, Mastercard, and even American Express are accepted widely in both St. Martin and Sint Maarten. Plus and Cirrus network cards are generally usable at ATM's.

Hours are usually 9am - 6pm, French side may take a short afternoon break before returning.

Although you should still carry plenty of cash. We ran into several instances where the minimum credit purchase was something like $25. We went to Escargot for lunch in Phillipsburg and they did not take CCs for lunch (which really should not prevent anyone from going there -- it was fantastic food and service).

Marigot is much less a problem -- however the deals were better in Phillipsburg.
