Local bars and night spots

Anyone have any information on local beach bars and night spots to visit on the Dutch side? We will be staying at the Great Bay Hotel and plan to get around the Island as much as we can. Any info. will be appreciated. Also some good places to eat.

Beach bars -

Sunset Beach Bar

Bucaneer Beach Bar

Lady C Floating Bar

There are so many good places to eat. If you want to spend lots of $$$ and enjoy "haute cuisine", head to Grand Case on the French side. The gourmet capital of the caribbean.

If not, we like:

Phillipsburgh:

Greenhouse

Simpson Bay:

Halseys

Peg Leg Pub

Banana's

and there are lots of Lido's - BBQ places along the roads for an excellent inexpensive meal.

Check out http://www.rays-sxm.net/ for some good restaurant reviews.

Yes, we just got back. The most "hoppin" place is Sunset Beach Bar, where planes fly RIGHT over your head (and create sand storms, if big enough, so be careful). Next door is Bliss, which is supposed to be a great night club- we went too early, but heard that from many.

For food (and, in particular, good service)- Pineapple Pete's and Hot Tomatoes!

Thanks for the information. Where did you stay while in Saint Martin? We are headed there on April 9th. and staying at the Great Bay Hotel and Casino.

You are welcome. We stayed in Simpson Bay, but often drove over to the area you are staying. Chesterfields and Greenhouse are good over your way, the former a bit expensive. But, if you go, ask for Leslie (male); he is so nice and accommodating and should be able to refer you to some things.

I recommend you drive to the French side to see it. Nothing is open on Sunday, so that is a good day to see what is around without all hte traffice (people and cars- most white Toyota Corollas). Prepar yourself for traffic esp midday and evening. They back out of everywhere, and sometimes without warning. Divi Little Bay is right near you, and many cruise ships come in there. You will notice a large increase in population on those days.

i highly recommend Lord Sheffield day sail boat out of Philipsburg- near you. The staff is great, and for $50, you get your food and money's worth, plus you get to see a beautiful secluded beach you otherwise would not.
