FYI, do not use Windward Island Bank ATMs...I've seen many reports of bogus duplicate withdrawals from debit card accounts through WIB ATMs. Pelican Resort is pursuing this on behalf of its timeshare owners...

Are there other ATM's? Is it best to use Credit card on the French side?

We use Scotiai Bank - never had any problems. But the above poster is correct - avoid Windward Island Bank.

We use CC for hotel and rental car only. Pay cash for everything else.

Also, be careful using CC on the French side. Your bank may charge you a conversion fee of up to 3%.

Many restaurants on the French side will give you 1:1 euro for $$ if you pay in US $$ cash (or travelers checks good as cash).

Thanks so much. Do you recommend travelers checks on the Island. We plan on doing alot of excursions. Do they take those as well?

Just about everyone takes them. Just be careful and don't get tons of large denominations. There are lots of small operations on the island that just can't cash a large TC.

We just use cash, refilling at the ATM when necessary. But there are many who prefer TC's.

I understand if you are having trouble cashing them, you can do so at the casino's.

Great. Thanks for all your help. Is there a local agency you can recommend as far as car?
