Feb. vacation airfare

My husband and I traded our timeshare for Mullet Bay Towers over President's week. ( I work for the school system). I've been searching on every site I can think of to find SOMEWHAT reasonable airfare, but can't seem to find anything out of Boston or Manchester NH for under $1000/per person. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting a better rate? Boy, they really zing you when you are forced to travel with the masses! Thanks for any suggestions........

Try flying mid-week. Those fares are usually much cheaper. But that's high season, so prices will be high.

Two families of 4 traveled there last year during pres. week and paid 1K per person for airfare. Made our plans May 04 for a Feb 05 trip. This year we are going to Costa Rica. Airfare for a decent, nonstop flight rose $400. from $600's to over 1K during one weekend in August, once the seats started selling. We booked at 1K (again). I would suggest booking ASAP since there is still room for them to increase, especially with the fuel prices!!

Thanks for the input. I ended up booking on United yesterday; good flight times and 1 stop. I didn't want to wait any longer and end up with an even HIGHER fare and several hops to get there. Oh well, I shouldn't really complain; if I was booking hotel/air it would be at least double. The time share exchange fee is under $200, so I'm still doing OK. I'm excited about spending time on the island, we have only stopped there on a cruise. We like a diverse vacation (would go crazy staying in one place for the whole trip) and will definitely do day trips to St. Barts and Anguilla. I'm not looking forward to winter but it sure helps to know we will escape the cold for a week!
