Ziplining

Hello All,

My husband and I would like to go ziplining during our stay at Jalousie Plantation and, after researching our options, we have decided that Treetop Canopy Adventure looks like the most fun. What is the best way to get there from Jalousie Plantation and is it worth the trip (since Morne Coubaril Estate is closer and also offers ziplining)?

Many Thanks!

Only you can decide if it is worth it. Treetop Adventures in Denner is a load of fun, has both the longest and the tallest and the most lines of the 3 courses on the island and has other things also - mountain biking, waterfall hike/swim, challenge course - it's a full day adventure. It is in Dennery, which is probably about 1-1.20 hours from Jalousie. A taxi will be expensive - easily $150 or more for the day - you will definitely want to check with them about their transportation options - I know they provide transport form the hotels in the north for a small fee (usually about $14US pp) but from Soufriere - not so sure. It is pretty deep into the rainforest and the waterfall hike and swim is great!

Morne Coubaril is obviously closer and easier to get to, but has the shortest and least lines of the 3 on-island. The views over the Pitons are spectacular, of course. While there, you could also do the plantation tour or the tree-climbing experience.

Basically - only you guys can decide what something is worth to you. Both are great, but very different experiences. The Treetops one is much more exhilerating and challenging - but far away, will definitely be a most of the day or full day trip.

So - let us know what you decide - both are great fun!

Enjoy your trip!

We'd be curious to know what you find out/decide, as we'll be staying at Jalousie in October, and also thought Treetop looked like the best one to do! Keep us posted, please!!

Thank you Reed Princess... Your comprehensive response is much appreciated!!

Our stay will be a bit short (6 days 5 nights). We want a nice balance of relaxation and adventure. So far, we have decided to definitely do the Gros Piton hike, but we are unsure of what other adventures to experience. Any "must do" recommendations would be very welcome.

I will be sure to post our experiences once we return. We are already impressed with the staff at Jalousie... They have been responsive, knowledgeable, and friendly. We are very much looking forward to experiencing their hospitality in person!

Thank you again for the info!

with all that Soufriere has to offer, going to Dennery for ziplining may not be worth the expense in both time and money. Must-do's in my opinion are Piton Falls, Tet Paul Trail, Sulphur Springs Park and mudbath.

After the Gros Piton hike you may want to relax somewhere like New Jerusalem Mineral Baths. The mineral baths and mudbath at Sulphur Springs Park have great therapeutic benefits.

Also in Soufriere: Diamond Botanical Gardens, Toraille Waterfall & Gardens, En Bas Saut Waterfall Trail, jungle-biking as well as abundant snorkeling at the area beaches - Anse Mamin, Anse Chastanet, Soufriere Beach, Malgretoute and Jalousie Beach

Is the En Bas Saut Waterfall Trail open again after Tomas?

Yes, En Bas Saut is open - the trail has been altered somewhat but it's been open for quite some time now.

Don't forget to check out the Activity Schedule at Jalousie, for the weeks organized hikes( Gros Piton, Sulphur Springs, Soufriere, etc.), activities and tours.

The Piton Falls (warm water mineral bath) outside the entrance (by a bit of a hike) became a daily ritual for us late afternoon. Shuttle to the entrance and hike/walk down to falls, small entrance fee.

If you not scuba divers and have ever considered trying the sport out, Jalousie's resort course learn to scuba is an excellent place to begin, right from the beach at the base of Petit Piton.

Water taxi on over to the exotic Anse Chastanet and their adjacent Anse Mamin Beach for an afternoon

we did not do the ziplines at morne coubaril - but the estate tour is lovely and the staff are so nice. if you do not decide to devote a whole day and a lot of money to your adventure you could do everything morne coubaril has to offer and finish with their very good value lunch buffet, in half-a-day. there are frequent local buses along the route, so transport could cost only a small amount. you could also fit in the sulphur springs or diamond gardens into the same day if you wished.
