where to stay st lucia, on beach

We are looking for a quick trip, want a place with walking distance to beach, restaraunts and night life...don't want to spend time traveling, only have a 3 night 4 day trip planned..Just got back from an AI in Playa del carmen....want to eat out and do more night life this time.

Then absolutely 100% Coco Palm. Great hotel, reasonable rates -- right in the middle of many restaurants and nightlife, so never have to taxi...beach 5 mins walk. If you fly into the Southern Airport in Castries, the hotel, which is in Rodney Bay, is about a 15 cab ride. So check out Coco Palm or Coco Kreole (which is an attached smaller property to Coco Palm) in Rodney Bay websites, and it will definitely fit all the things you're looking for!

Ginger Lily hotel. My friend who worked in St. Vincent but traveled to St. Lucia frequently for business highly recommends this place.

If you are staying in Soufriere, try the "Still Resort or the "Hummingbird Resort" right on the beach or the Mago Estate Hotel (see my review) walking distance to the beach. There are no AI's in Soufriere - be prepared for price shock. The nightlife is to the north in Castries unless you are looking for local flavor. See photo gallery, link in my review.

Hi macjod,

Cannot get any closer to the beach, nightlife / restaurants than the Royal. Its in Rodney Bay so try and get a flight to Castries airport. We loved the hotel and the area.

Just a friendly correction to one post...the "Southern Airport" is called Hewanorra, code UVF, and is quite a ride away from the northern "nightlife" towns & resorts. The northern airport is is coded SLU. Many others have commented on the long ride from one to the other.

You might check on travel times, connections required, and which airport you'll arrive in before going any further. That is, unless you have a private jet. Then it's no problem. If going from Nebraska, I know you'll have to connect a few times if flying commercial airlines. That might make you leave home early and arrive late at night. Then the return trip home will also require you to leave your hotel early and get home late at night.

Personally, we consider St. Lucia on our list of "minimum 7 nights" trips. As is Hawaii, parts of Europe, etc. Our 3 nighters include most US cities & some Mexico towns.

Have a blast wherever you go,
