Private Transfers to Sandals Grande - Anxious Holidaymakers!

Hi

We are going to be in St Lucia next month for our wedding at Sandals Grande - slightly nervous as neither of us have ever flown for longer than 4 hours!!

We are both very interested in using a private transfer rather than the Sandals Shuttle as from reading reports it seems people prefer to use a seperate company. Can anyone please recommend a company and tell us what to expect as we are total amateurs at going abroad let alone the Caribbean!!

Any help would be so gratefully received!!

Thanks in advance

Lots of people have no problem at all using the Sandals shuttle servie. It is a reasonably comfortable 10-12 seater van with A/C and a great chance to talk with fellow Sandals guests on the way.

Others prefer a private transfer. Several ways to do this. First - simply get a taxi at the airport. Cost will be about $85US one way to the Grande. They are readily available right outside customs. Secondly, hire a car/driver to meet you at the airport. Same price as a taxi, only difference will be someone waiting for you outside customs with a sign with your name on it! Third - VIP private transfer. Similar to #2, but a bit more expensive as it is usually a nicer car, includes drinks and snacks etc. All of the options (including the Sandals transfer) stop along the way for photo and potty breaks. With a private transfer, you can stop more frequently and longer if you want. Keep in mind, no matter which option - the ride is 1.5 hours long!

Serenity TVL is very highly rated for their VIP transfers (about $95US one way VIP). More Than A Cab, Ben's West Coast Jeeps, PHV Tours, Gerry's Taxi, Christopher Taxi, etc all do private transfers and some also offer VIP transfers. You can google them for websites and contact them for rates.

Enjoy your trip!

I can highly recommend the www.serenitytvl.com vip transfer we have done it 5 times now, and its a fabulous way to start you holiday, meet some genuinely nice St Lucians and have a mini tour/introduction to the island.

I second Serenity Tours. We just used them for our trip to Sandals Grande Sept 7th - 14th, 2012. They were wonderful!!!! It was a great way to start our trip. Ask for Richard as your driver -- he's so nice and will give a lot of knowledge of the island!!!

Hi all - thanks for your responses. I have just looked up Serenity and they look great.

The major reason for looking at this option rather than the Sandals Shuttle was because after a 9 hour (give or take a few minutes!) we would like to travel in a little bit of luxury and not husseled into a minibus if that makes sense..........as we are getting married whilst in St Lucia and we want to make this the most memorable trip we can as it will be quite a few years before we can travel to somewhere like this again!

If you want a once in a lifetime experience, try St Lucia Helecopters! They transfer you from the international airport to the small northern airport. You then hop a cab which is waiting there that will take you to your resort. (approx $20.00) The helecopter is rather expensive but well worth the money. You also get to the resort faster than the ground transportation and avoid the crowd at check in. It isn't private (usually 4-6 people total) but an amazing way to see the island!

We have just returned from SGSL and my husband surprised me with a trip from the airport in the helicopter. What a way to start - amazing. From landing, customs etc and enjoying a rum punch in the Sandals Lounge we were in the sea just over 2 hours from landing. Amazing. Booked everything through the concierge at Sandals.

How is the trip in general? I have heard more than one person say the ride to the resort is a little scary.
